Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Stadiums (16/18)

West Division:
west division of QMJHL

Rouyn-Noranda Huskies
Centre Dave-Keon, Visited in Winter 2019
Man, what a fun renovated rink. With the atmosphere of a remote mining town? Highly recommended.
These newish (2011) renovations mean that the Centre Dave-Keon should stick around for a while.

Val-d'Or Foreurs
Centre Air Creebec, Visited in Winter 2019
I stopped and checked out the Centre Air Creebec on a layover, but unfortunately the Foreurs were out of town.

Gatineau Olympiques
Centre Robert Guertin, Visited in Winter 2011

Demolition/Replacement ALERT: Post-Covid, the Olympiques should play at the new Centre Slush Puppie.
You might've missed your opportunity to see the Centre Robert Guertin, although now it's housing displaced
homeless people due to COVID. Built in 1952, Centre Robert Guertin is a worthwhile visit for any lover of old barns.

Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (Montreal Suburb)
Centre d'excellence Sports Rousseau, Visited in Winter 2014

Modern, neighbourhood rink.

Sherbrooke Phoenix
Palais des Sports Leopold-Drolet, Visited in Winter 2016-17
Sherbrooke is a beautiful, tastefully renovated rink if you're into that sort of
thing. With recent renovations, it should be around for a while.

Drummondville Voltiguers
Centre Marcel Dionne, Visited in Winter 2011
A worthwhile stop for anyone who likes old rinks. My first & one of my favourites.

East Division:
east division of QMJHL

Baie-Comeau Drakkar
Centre Henry-Leonard, Built in 1970, Visited in September of 2014.
I visited Centre Henry-Leonard in September of 2014, before leaving Sept-Iles for Anticosti Island.
Recently the arena had water leak issues following a storm, so you might want to watch if local politicians
call for the need to spend oodles of money building a modern monstrosity.

Chicoutimi Sagueneens
Centre Georges-Vézina, Visited in Winter 2013-14
Renovation ALERT: There are plans to extensively renovate the Centre Georges-Vezina, so if you want to see its cool old wooden roof,
you should get there by 2017 or 2018. The renovations are also expected to take about a year, so you
could also go see a game when the Sagueneens have to play in nearby Jonquiere. I love Quebec because they'll
spend the money to fix up an old barn, instead of the Ontario model of spending $20 million more
for a new place to avoid any inconvenience.
Chicoutimi is now thinking of building a new monstrosity. Here is a fluff piece
supporting building a new arena.

Quebec Remparts
1999-2015: Colisée Pepsi, Visited in Winter 2013-14
2015-Present: Centre
Videotron
I planned a whole vacation around having to see the Colisée Pepsi before they abandoned it.
The mayor initially was adamant that it must be demolished post haste, but he's now
laid off that silliness and there are talks of leaving the arena standing for a bit.

I have never been to the Centre Videotron.

Rimouski Oceanic
Colisee de Rimouski, Visited in November 2019
With Alexis Lafrenière playing for the Oceanic, I finally made the long drive over and past the Gaspe. The Colisee de
Rimouski - aka the Colisee Financial Sun Life - is a great 1960s barn that comes highly recommended from me.

Shawinigan Cataractes
Centre Bionest, Visited in Winter 2018

I was very excited to visit the new-to-me community of Shawinigan for my birthday in 2018. It's a new
arena, but they did a good job. I'd recommend a game in Shawinigan.

Victoriaville Tigres
Colisée Desjardins, Visited in Winter 2011
I haven't heard of any plans to replace Colisee Desjardins.

Maritimes Division:
west division of QMJHL

Acadie-Bathurst Titan
K.C. Irving Regional Centre, Visited in Fall 2012

I don't know of any plans to replace the KC Irving Regional Centre, but you have to be wary
of a small market team in a place where a major employer left and you have a lot of outward migration.
The Titan have a healthy ownership group right now and that should really help though.

Moncton Wildcats
1995-2018: Moncton Coliseum, Fall 2012
Replacement ALERT: Site preparation is already underway for a new downtown arena in Moncton, expected to open
for the 2018-19 season. You have a few years left to see the Moncton Coliseum, although there are no plans to
immediately demolish the old building (yet).
2018-Present: Centre Avenir - I have never been to the Centre Avenir. I'll stop by one day if it's convenient.

Saint John Sea Dogs
Harbour Station, Visited in October 2013, November 2019
Harbour Station is a large, modern rink, right downtown. There are no plans to renovate or demolish Harbour Station.
As the Sea Dogs expanded into a market which already had Harbour Station constructed, there isn't an old rink to
additionally visit when you're in Saint John. I suppose you could check out the 1960s-built Lord Beaverbank Arena.

P.E.I. Rocket/Charlottetown Islanders
Charlottetown Civic Centre, Visited in October 2011

Demolition WATCH: Charlottetown built a substandard arena when they built this one in 1990, so there are already talks of building a replacement.
This is only talking and talk of forming committees, and at $40 million in a place that has trouble with large projects, it might be a while.

Halifax Mooseheads
Halifax Metro Centre
I've seen Blue Rodeo and a Slovakia/Slovenia game at the Metro Centre, but never the Mooseheads. Brad Marchand
was even playing for them when I lived close by, but I didn't prioritize rinks back then like I do now. I've also
played hockey at the old Halifax Forum, which is a worthwhile arena to visit while in the area.

Maybe I should make an update for that Slovakia/Slovenia game and count it? I did see hockey there...

Cape Breton Screaming Eagles
Centre 200, Visited in Winter 2012
I don't know of any plans to renovate or replace the Centre 200.

15/18 Arenas Visited.
