Staycation Getogether

York Harbour, Newfoundland (Map)

Summer 2018

My friend Stevie flew in to St. John's to meet up with Rosie, where they then drove over to the west coast so five out of seven of the old Country Road Gang could get back together.

A few months earlier Rosie had stayed at the Captain Cook's cabins in nearby York Harbour, and while the group gave me a window to find us a different cabin rental further from Corner Brook, I eventually failed and we ended up booking a night's stay in York Harbour.

In the end, the cabin was totally great and a good time was had by all.

We hiked the South Head Fibreglass Post Trail out of Bottle Cove near Little Port Head.

Even if the lighthouse is gone, the scenery was still worth the uphill slog.

Isy met up with us for the hike and might've questioned the worth of it in her hungover state, haha.

Picking up key supplies at the Corner Brook Sobeys.

The back deck view out over Governors Island and the Blow-Me-Down Mountains.

The night featured a long discussion/explanation of Tinder, including the discovery that ex-hockey players are on the site in Corner Brook.

Morning rejuvenation.

After a few additional deck beers the next afternoon, the convoy left and headed back east.
